Meal Planning for an RV Trip

Meal Planning for an RV Trip

There are many benefits that come with camping in an RV. In many ways, an RV is like a home on wheels. One of the conveniences that an RV offers is a kitchen. You can go camping at any location in an RV Rental, like a remote campground in Four Corners, Colorado, and still have the ability to cook your own meals.

Meal Planning for an RV Trip

When you are on vacation, you don’t want to have to spend your time worrying about what to eat. Planning ahead can take the stress out of cooking while on an RV trip. The best thing to do is to have several easy recipes on hand that you can keep in rotation, as this will save a lot of time and energy.

When planning out your meals, keep in mind that RV kitchens aren’t very big. There is not a lot of storage or cooking space, so it is important to know how much you can bring. Some other things to keep in mind are: how long your trip is, how many people there are, whether or not you will go to the grocery store on your trip, and whether or not you will eat out. All of these things will help you assess how much food you will need to bring for your trip.

Grocery Shopping

Meal Planning for an RV Trip

Make a list of all the foods you will need for your trip. Thinking ahead will help make sure that you don’t forget anything that you need. Consider whether you will go to the grocery store while on your trip or if you need to purchase everything ahead of time.

Here are some ideas for foods to bring for quick and easy breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and desserts:

A little bit of planning ahead will make sure that meal-time is as easy as possible. There are additional steps you can take to make cooking in your RV even more hassle-free. Prepping food beforehand, like pre-cutting veggies and fruit, makes for minimal work on the trip. While it might take a little while to get used to cooking in an RV,, planning your meals out ahead of time will ensure that meal-time is enjoyable and stress-free.

Delivered Search – How it Works

RV Listings and Map of Campgrounds

Because RVPlusYou focuses all of our marketing efforts, and dollars, on finding those RV renters who are looking for an RV rental that will delivered and set up at their location, we’ve made some major changes to our search process.

‘Delivered Search’ for an RV rental will now focus first on the location where the renter needs an RV delivered. It then lists the RV rentals within that delivery search area that are available to be delivered and set up for the renter.

Here is how it works:Map of Campgrounds Near Delivered RV Rental Search Area

  1. User enters destination city, campground, address, or event in the RVPlusYou search bar. This can be a music festival, a private home address, or an area RV park.
  2. Once the user enters their desired destination, they are presented with a list of RV rentals on the left (for PC’s and larger screens), or below for smaller screens (Smartphones). On the right is a map of campgrounds and RV parks located within the user’s delivery area. The same map is available as an option on smartphones, located at the bottom. Delivered RV Rental listings
  3. User has the option to immediately start browsing RV rentals, or they can use the map to center or move their delivery area and find more RV rental options that will deliver for them.
  4. The address of your RV listing will now be the center point of your delivery area. The default range is 75 miles. If you will deliver further, or not that far, then you will need to adjust this variable in the ‘edit address’ field where you manage your RV listing.

What changes do you need to make?

It is highly recommended that you spend some time adjusting your listing to fit the new delivered search process.

Consider the following:

  • No longer will your RV show up on a map. Your address will be used as the center of a “delivery area”. We don’t use keywords in the title, so you don’t need to list multiple locations.
  • It is no longer necessary to have multiple listings for the same RV. If you would like to cover a larger area, then adjust your delivery area in the Manage RV section of your listing, by updating the delivery area underneath your address field.
  • Reviews are important, so make sure to keep your RV listings that have reviews. Simply change the address and update the title. If you have RV listings that you want to eliminate, but you want to keep the reviews, let us know and we’ll move your reviews to the RV listing that you’ll be keeping.
  • Update your title. This is most important. If you have a location specific title, such as “RV Rental for Lopez Lake”, then this title is location specific and may confuse renters. It may be delivered to Lopez Lake, but it may also be delivered to a home 20 miles away for a family reunion, or an RV park 5 miles away. Make sure your title is appropriate for the new Delivered Search process.
    • Sample Titles:
      • “Newer Luxury RV with Outside BBQ”
      • “New Bunkhouse Family Travel Trailer”
      • “Vintage Refurbished Travel Trailer”
  • We’ve added new fields. Make sure your listing shows the correct length of RV, the correct address, and the correct number of people that your RV sleeps. More new fields coming, such as year, make, model.
    • Note: This information will be displayed in helpful ways and will be used for future filters added to search options.

It’s Never Too Early to Start Planning Your Summer Vacation

Yes, we know that 2018 is only a couple of weeks old and most of the country is locked in a deep freeze. So, guess what, this is the perfect time to start planning your summer vacation.

Theme Parks!

As a matter of fact, it’s imperative that you start planning your summer vacation as early as possible, if you intend to visit one of the most popular destinations in the United States. That would mean Disney World or Disney Land if you’ve got family who wants to visit theme parks. And of course it’s not only Disney World in Orlando- there’s Sea World, Universal Studios, Gatorland, and even Fun Spot America – a great theme park that is extremely affordable.

In Anaheim, California you’ve got Disneyland, Universal Studios, Legoland California, the San Diego Zoo (nearby), and California’s largest water park, Raging Waters, which is situated in San Dimas (of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure fame). There’s also Knotts Berry Farm!

Delivered RV Rentals are the Way to Go

With a delivered RV rental, you don’t have to worry about sold out hotels. You don’t have to worry about hauling a camper or RV halfway across  state or country. The luxury camper or RV is there, waiting for you – set up by the owner so you don’t need to worry about attaching electricity, sewage, or anything of that nature. It’s set up and ready for you at your chosen destination.

Where are the RV Owners?

Simply type in the location you’d like to visit in the search box on the home page of RVPlusYou,  and see what luxury campers or RVs are available.

New delivered RV rentals are being added to RVPlusYou on a regular basis, so be sure to check back frequently.

National Parks

Make 2018 the year you visit as many National Parks as possible.  They are all worth visiting – from the smallest national park of all (Hot Springs, Arkansas) to the largest, Wrangell-St. Elias , which at the moment is larger than nine – nine – of the states of the Union!

Perhaps the most famous and most visited park is Yellowstone in northern Wyoming, as well as southern Montana and a patch of it located in southeastern Idaho.

Gettysburg is perhaps the most visited historical site for Civil War history buffs. The founding of the United States can be relived every day in Williamsburg in Virginia, or on the Freedom Trail in Boston. These historical sites may not be here forever as mounting pressure brought by an increase in population and demands of various businesses may threaten them all.

Make 2018 the year you see the sites you’ve always dreamed of seeing.

RV renters search the global database of exciting destinations, then click to see a list of RV owners willing to stage their RVs at each location. Campground reservations can be made by either party. RV owners drive their unit to the mutually agreed upon location, set it up, and can even offer to share camping gear or help stock provisions. “Renting a 38ft RV fifth wheel trailer is something I heard other people doing but never something I have considered myself until I stumbled upon this website service and RJ and Danelle. RJ and Danelle are two wonderful folks who have a beautiful well maintained trailer that do everything in there power to make sure your vacation is wonderful. The trailer is very clean and fully stocked incase you forget anything. They set the trailer up for my daughter and myself and made sure everything is in working order. Gave great suggestions on things to do in the area. Not only are we going to schedule another vacation VERY soon, other family members and friends have been or will be in contact with them to see when it is available. Personally I feel it is much more relaxing than staying in a motel. I would definitely recommend them to anyone interested in LUXURY camping.”  — Douglas

“Everything was great and tons of fun. Still can’t believe how beautiful it is down there [Avila Beach], hopefully I’ll be back and will definitely be looking at using the site again for future regattas!” –Doug

“Great RV, great service!”  –D.

“Very nice RV! It was great showing up and having it already set up and ready to go for us. Everything was clean and in working order. Russ went over a few instructions but when we forgot what to do if the little red light came on for the pump, he had left a binder with instructions – very helpful! I also called once asking about the bicycles. He hadn’t brought them, so if you want them, make sure to specify. He was happy to do so, but we ended up with a freak thunderstorm in the middle of the summer so decided to pass on them. I do want to suggest to future renters – bring any cold food in a cooler that can last a day. While he turned the refrigerator on at 2pm, when we checked at 11pm, it was still only at 55 degrees, not 40, which is safe for meat, dairy, etc. We had put them in the freezer hours earlier since it was at 40 but by morning when the frig was at the correct temp, so was the freezer and I ended up throwing several things out that don’t freeze well. Not a big deal if you have a cooler and are prepared to wait until it gets there. We would definitely rent from Russ again!”  — Angela

“If anyone remembers watching Mel Gibson from Lethal Weapon, you may recall he lived in an RV on the beach. Since that time, I always wanted to try RV camping on a beach. Being a first timer, however, I was unfamiliar with RV camping: from what to look for in an RV rental, and especially the logistics around getting a RV camp space reservation. Russ’s RV to the rescue. Russ’s precise instructions handheld me through the entire process and made it completely turn key for us. We arrived to a luxurious, clean RV, completely set up with bikes, BBQ, chairs, table, etc and Russ walked us through everything. This is more of a ‘glamping’ experience as the RV provides all the comforts of home, but in the idyllic setting of the California central coast. Each day we saw otters, dolphins, and our daughter loved the tide pools. Avila Beach area is also a great family town and we would highly recommend doing the RV beach camping on the central coast. We’re so excited about going back again!”  — Henry
